Section 01
Project Overview
Metro Vancouver is replacing a water main built in the 1930s with a new deep tunnel under Stanley Park. Construction runs from late 2024 through 2029. When complete, the tunnel will meet current seismic standards and support reliable drinking water delivery to Vancouver, Richmond, and Delta.
BCP Burrard-Chilco Partnership (a joint venture including SPIE Batignolles Canada Inc., EBC Inc., and Pomerleau BC Inc.) was awarded the construction contract by Metro Vancouver. IFEL was engaged to provide consulting engineering for construction-period utility systems supporting shaft sites and underground tunnel work.
